Job Description

The Assembler is responsible for building scoreboard components, preparing systems for shipment, and ensuring that all products are packaged securely and accurately. This role emphasizes high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency while meeting production schedules. The position suits someone who is detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work quickly and carefully in a hands‑on manufacturing and warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble scoreboard components accurately, ensuring proper fit, finish, and functionality.
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions, drawings, or blueprints to complete mechanical assemblies.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely, including saws and drill presses, to complete assembly tasks.
  • Prepare kits and shipments by verifying that all parts, components, and documentation are complete and correct.
  • Inspect parts and finished products for quality and compliance with standards prior to packaging.
  • Package AV and LED systems securely to prevent damage during transit, using appropriate packaging materials and methods.
  • Label shipments accurately and support coordination of timely delivery and logistics.
  • Document assembly, inspection, and packaging processes to maintain consistency and compliance with internal procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and efficient to support safe and productive operations.
  • Recommend process and packaging improvements to increase efficiency, protection, and overall product quality.
  • Support fast turnaround of customer orders by meeting production and shipping schedules.
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely after obtaining and maintaining required certifications.
  • Use tape measures and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure precise assembly.
  • Assist with general warehouse and production duties as needed to support team objectives.
Essential Skills
  • 1–2 years of experience in assembly, packaging, or warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely for mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Ability to follow detailed assembly instructions and procedures accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to inspect parts and finished products against quality standards.
  • Capability to safely lift and handle AV equipment and materials up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods during the shift.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for fine assembly tasks and to operate job‑specific tools and equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification if not already certified.
  • Comfort working in warehouse conditions with noise, temperature changes, and dust.
  • Basic understanding of production, logistics, and packaging workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Existing forklift certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AV or LED products and related components is a plus.
  • Experience reading and working from blueprints or mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and other measuring tools accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple assemblies and shipments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members regarding quality, documentation, and logistics.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to suggest process and packaging improvements.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in a warehouse and production environment, working closely with assembly tools, packaging materials, and AV or LED equipment. You will regularly use standard warehouse and shop equipment such as hand tools, power tools, saws, drill presses, carts, pallet jacks, and forklifts. The workspace may include exposure to noise, dust, temperature variations, and moving equipment. The position requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods and lifting materials up to 60 pounds. Extended hours may be required at times to meet production or shipping demands, and you should be comfortable working in typical warehouse attire suitable for a manufacturing setting with appropriate safety gear.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
