In a nutshell:
The Application Engineer demonstrates Bystronic machines and its capabilities to prospective customers.
What you will be doing:
- Applications Engineers take pride with their job and are given the freedom to provide functional and technical support.
- With input from our Sales Engineers, we demonstrate our machines functions and capabilities.
- You will be able to perform time studies. Prepare for shows (on and off site) and demonstrations of all Bystronic Machines.
- Your goal is Operates machinery and maintains the General Fabrication area.
Key tasks and Responsibilities:
- Host customer visits and work directly with customers regarding applications, technology and product details.
- Perform cutting and software demonstrations for potential customers
- Instruct on metal applications, machine operations and laser/mechanical safety.
- Analyze customers’ machine and tooling requirements based on information customers’ requirements and instruct on BySoft software.
- Provide test cuts and time studies for potential customers.
- Provide technical support via phone assistance
- Support Sales Team with strategic and key applications (on and off site).
- Instruct on machine maintenance procedures.
- Design in-house software support.
- Fabricate demonstration parts to show the Bystronic capabilities
- Maintain demo area and equipment.
- Maintain training documentation.
KPI’s:
- Number of performed demos for prospective customers
- Customer satisfaction with demonstrations
Key Skillset:
- Have or be able to obtain a Passport; up to 25% travel; be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Have and maintain a clean and valid driver’s license and be able to rent a car.
- Excellent communication skills oral and written with strong attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
- Knowledge of trigonometry and metallurgy.
- Experience in Hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and blueprint reading.
- CNC programming, CAD software, robotic programming and Ladder Logic a plus.
- Working knowledge of metal applications operations.
Your education & experience:
- Two (2) year degree or higher preferred in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in an Apps. role, Technical Sales role, or as a Field Service Engineer.
