Position Title: Applications Engineer

Location: Elgin, IL 60124

Job Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time

Compensation: $75,000 – $100,000

As an Applications Engineer, you will serve as the vital technical bridge between innovative display products and groundbreaking customer applications. This role is designed for a self-starter with a passion for electronics engineering, hardware/firmware troubleshooting, and customer-centric problem-solving.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, providing expert guidance on product selection and troubleshooting complex hardware/software issues.
  • Collaborate with clients to design or modify displays and lead the testing of electronic solutions, including PCB layout and embedded software development.
  • Oversee the Engineering Change Process, perform pre-production sample reviews, and conduct second-sourcing qualifications.
  • Support local production by developing and repairing test fixtures and managing RMA requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical resources, including schematics, user drawings, manuals, datasheets, and application notes.
  • Develop demonstration kits to showcase product features and assist with internal product training.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a technical role within the electronics industry.
  • Proficiency in C++ or C programming and experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers (PIC, ATMEL, ARM).
  • Technical expertise in peripherals such as I²C, SPI, USB, GPIO, and SD Cards.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot to the component level and interpret electronic schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with schematic capture, PCB layout tools, and prototype assembly (soldering and breadboarding).
  • Strong organizational discipline and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • Familiarity with OLED, LCD, LED, or VFD technology is a significant plus.
