Job Title: Ammonia Technician

Job Description

The Ammonia Technician will maintain, repair, and examine refrigeration systems within a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and machine repairs. The role may involve exposure to chemicals and extreme temperatures while servicing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair refrigeration systems, including draining and pumping ammonia systems and replacing components as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot machinery to ensure optimal operation.
  • Conduct regular rounds to check temperatures and pressures on various machinery.
  • Monitor the cooling tower and boiler systems.
  • Perform oil changes, replace seals, and conduct pump downs.
  • Read and interpret drawings and ladder logic to troubleshoot with minimal documentation.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of hands-on ammonia experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent degree.
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and follow wiring schematics for industrial wiring tasks.
  • Knowledge of AC & DC circuits and high voltage (480) systems.
  • Experience with PSM programs and gauging/testing on ammonia.

Work Environment

The work environment can be hot and loud, requiring technicians to be on their feet most of the day. The role requires the ability to lift 50 lbs independently. Technicians will work in a manufacturing setting with exposure to chemicals and varying temperatures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.
