JOB SUMMARY:
Perform daily tasks required for safe and efficient daily airport operations including aircraft services (fueling, tie-down, luggage handling); maintenance of airport facilities and equipment ensuring compliance with operating and safety procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support aircraft service requirements including fueling, luggage handling, cleaning, and aircraft tie-down for military fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, private aircraft, and commercial aircraft.
- Day-to-day maintenance of airport equipment including lavatory, water cart, ground power units, tugs, and airport trucks.
- Perform light maintenance of airport buildings, airport grounds, runways, runway lighting, tie-down areas, and fuel storage facilities. Perform other light handyman type services.
- Performs custodial duties throughout the airport. This includes but is not limited to cleaning restrooms, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Complies with all pertinent standards, practices, and safety requirements and ensures compliance by airport tenants.
- Wildlife management and protection when needed.
- Responsible for the collection of monies owed for goods and services and generating financial and operational reports and other administrative duties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbally and in writing and understand simple math.
- Demonstrate the ability to plan, organize and carry out projects.
- Must be able to work well with all other members of the airport staff.
- Ability to work a variable schedule and occasional overtime work may be required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of general work experience.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license.
- Obtain a Hepatitis B vaccination through the Public Health Department or a designated clinic.
WORK ENVIROMENT:
- Exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, and humidity; exposure to high levels of dust, grime, and dirt.
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to loud sound and vibration.
- Variable schedules and overtime work may be required periodically.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Required to exert heavy physical effort including long stretches of time exerting physical stamina.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and perform movement involving muscle strain including lifting, walking, standing, stooping, reaching, pushing/pulling, hearing and seeing; climb or balance, stoop or kneel.
- Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds or more with proper lifting support. This is often combined with bending, twisting, or working on irregular surfaces or at heights above ground.
- Common eye, hand, leg and foot dexterity and strength are required for work mobility, equipment use and difficult driving conditions.
