CLOUD COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEE JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Instructor in the Agronomy Reports To: Dean of Math, Sciences, and Technical Programs Type of Contract: Professional Employee (Faculty) Length of Contract: 9 month, academic year Date of Position Description: Jan. 2013 Date Position Description Approved by President: GENERAL NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION The Instructor in Agronomy Education will be responsible for teaching courses within the Agriculture Department both on and off campus. This position also requires supervision and evaluation of students in field placements. A master’s degree is required. Additionally, it is preferred that the candidate has college teaching experience, knowledge of Career Degrees, and Transfer Programs in Agriculture with the needed Credentials. RESPONSIBILITIES The Agronomy Education Instructor will: 1. discharge effectively and efficiently the duties and responsibilities as defined in the Master Contract; 2. teach courses within the Agriculture Curriculum; 3. develop and maintain course curricula that appropriately reflect current knowledge in the discipline; 4. work with the division and department in the development of competencies for courses in the department and division; 5. work with the division and department in the development and approval of Associate of Applied Science programs and transfer programs; 6. work with the division and department in the program review process; 7. work with the division and department in the student outcome assessment process; 8. assist in evaluating faculty both on and off-campus; 9. work with the division and department on follow-up of graduates; 10. work with the Articulation Coordinator in developing articulation agreements for transfer programs; 11. participate in division, department, and faculty activities including working with advisory committees for AAS programs; 12. prepare syllabi for all courses taught following the format prescribed by the State of Kansas and have those syllabi on file in the Vice President of Academic Affairs office; 13. prepare with the department chair and the division dean the class schedule each semester; 14. provide information to the Academic Affairs’ office for federal, state, and internal reports; 15. prepare with the department chair and the division dean the budget and correctly prepare purchase requisitions; 16. assist in the development of promotional materials for the Agriculture department and the division, and assist in the recruitment of students; 17. incorporate technology into the curriculum and keep abreast of current technology in the field of Agriculture; 18. incorporate technology into the curriculum; 19. assist in the development and delivery of online courses in Agriculture; 20. teach classes as needed in the evening, on the Concordia Campus, on the Geary County Campus, outreach sites, ITV, online and shortened or flexible formats; 21. collaborate with business and industry to develop relationships and support for Agriculture programs including participation in Ag. night at the college; 22. emphasize working in the global society within the curriculum, 23. collaborate with other disciplines to develop interdisciplinary programs; and 24. attend workshops and seminars if necessary (valid driver’s license required and overnight travel may be required); 25. serve as a representative of the college in interaction with constituents, USD personnel, and the public at large; 26. organize and assist fellow faculty in coordinating and executing student career development events; 27. Organize and execute the Agronomy contest as part of Aggie Days; and 28. Develop and maintain relationships with local FFA chapters and Ag programs; This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
