As Aecon continues to expand its Texas power delivery operations, we are building a dedicated field safety organization to support crews working in dynamic, high-risk environments.

This is how Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects.The Safety Advisor is a field-based safety professional responsible for supporting day-to-day safety execution on transmission and substation projects across Texas. This role works closely with craft, supervision, and project teams to promote safe work practices, conduct observations and inspections, and support incident prevention and response.
The Safety Advisor reports directly to the Safety Manager and serves as the primary on-site safety presence, focusing on coaching, compliance, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do Here:
- Provide on-site safety support for transmission and substation construction activities
- Conduct regular field observations, inspections, and audits to identify hazards and unsafe conditions
- Participate in and support tailboard meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and pre-task planning
- Coach field personnel on safe work practices and behavioral safety expectations
- Support implementation of project-specific safety plans and client safety requirements
- Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, documentation, and corrective actions
- Track and maintain safety records, reports, and inspection documentation
- Coordinate and support safety-related training (e.g., OSHA, fall protection, lockout tag out, confined space, first aid)
- Support OSHA and client audits under the direction of the Safety Manager
- Promote Aecon’s Safety Program and EHS Management System in the field
- Travel regularly to project sites across Texas
What You Bring to the Team:
- 3–5 years of experience in a field-based safety role (Safety Advisor, Safety Coordinator, Safety Specialist, or similar), supporting utility construction projects such as transmission, substation, distribution, telecom, or oil & gas
- Working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 regulations and familiarity with construction terminology, means, and methods
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and promote safe work behaviors across field teams
- Ability to work independently in the field with limited supervision
- Willingness to travel extensively within Texas and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Safety certification such as CHST, CSHO, CUSP, CSP, or equivalent (preferred)
- Prior experience on high-voltage transmission or substation projects (preferred)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
- Experience using digital safety management tools such as SiteDocs or similar platforms (preferred)
