JOB SUMMARY
This is an internal job opportunity exclusive to current employees of the Wiliamson County Sheriff's Office
Reporting directly to the Chief Deputy, responsible for directing all aspects of the administrative operation units within the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, to include but not limited to Warrants, Data Entry, Human Resources, Open Records, Evidence, Digital Evidence, Grants, policy management, Terminal Agency Coordinator, communications, and the Sheriff’s Office Public Information Office.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
- Develops and implements fiscal and administrative goals, policies, and procedures
- Identifies and develops new and/or modified administrative or operational support systems
- Oversees office operations and supervises personnel to include hiring, training, scheduling, timekeeping approval, evaluation, status/pay changes, and corrective actions
- Creates, monitors, and maintains policies to ensure accordance with best practices
- Researches and prepares various technical, administrative, and financial reports
- Serves as single point of contact for new software implementation and troubleshooting
- Ensures continued compliance/accreditation standards and processes
- Oversees Human Resources practices within the Sheriff’s Office under the guidance of the Williamson County Human Resources department; facilitate personnel matters including hiring, discipline, separations, promotions, transfers, and assignment changes
- Provides reporting to executive staff related to staffing, personnel matters, budget, and calls for service, etc.
- Serves as single point of contact at the Sheriff’s Office for litigation and works collaboratively with County legal for resolution of such matters
- Serves as single point of contact for risk management for incidents related to fleets, injuries, and other matters related to such
- Oversees Open Records Request to ensure responses are in accordance with Public Information Act
- Develops and implements annual and mid-year employee evaluation processes for Sheriff’s Office and Corrections employees
- Gives presentations to various departments or elected officials, as required
- Serves as Sheriff’s Office liaison for the Williamson County Emergency Communications Center, which involves participation on their hiring boards, discipline actions, policy development, etc.
- Oversees strategic planning, chaplains program, and the upcoming civil service initiatives
- Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
- Performs special duties as assigned

- Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying

- Occasional contact with persons accused or convicted of crimes
- Contact with law enforcement officials and public
IRREGULAR HOURS
- Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field AND eight (8) years of office administration/management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of public safety technology systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of Law Enforcement accreditation practices and processes
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required within thirty (30) days of employment
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (TLETS) certification
- Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) User certification
Required within one (1) year of employment
- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 certifications
- Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Maintenance certification
- National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) certification
- Texas Open Records certification
- Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Manager certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) years of Law Enforcement accreditation experience
- Five (5) of progressive law enforcement management experience
- Three (3) years of director or multi department supervisory experience
- Demonstrated project management experience
