This position plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and transparency of HSPPR. By maintaining accurate records, supporting cross-departmental operations, and upholding nonprofit accounting standards, you directly enable compassionate animal care and community impact.

What You'll Do

You'll be a key partner to departments across the organization, ensuring smooth, accurate, and timely financial operations.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily receipt reconciliations across multiple departments
  • Audit and troubleshoot discrepancies in collaboration with internal teams
  • Support accounts payable from invoice intake through payment processing
  • Code invoices in alignment with budgets, departments, and programs
  • Assist with check runs, ACH payments, and vendor statement reconciliations
  • Process and reconcile organizational credit card transactions
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, meeting critical deadlines

Additional Impact:

  • Serve as a go-to resource for vendor management and problem resolution
  • Coordinate with external veterinary partners on billing and reconciliation
  • Set up new vendors, maintain W-9 records, and support 1099 processing
  • Assist with bank deposits and cash handling procedures
  • Help transition accounting processes from paper-based to digital systems
  • Train and support other accounting staff as needed
Emergency & Community Role
  • Participate in emergency response efforts as part of the HSPPR CART team
  • Serve as a liaison at Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) if activated
  • Complete FEMA training (IS-100.B and IS-700.A)
  • Share impactful stories and moments with the Philanthropy team to highlight HSPPR's mission in action
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of accounting, administrative, or related experience
  • Strong Excel skills (intermediate to advanced)
  • Experience with accounting systems (MIP/Abila a plus)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Comfort handling confidential information
  • Valid Colorado driver's license and insurable driving record
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Fully on-site role, working closely with a collaborative team
  • Regular computer work, with occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Exposure to animals and allergens in a shelter environment
  • Occasional driving for organizational needs
Schedule
  • Full-time, Monday–Friday
  • Occasional evenings or weekends as needed
