Position Overview

Virginia Transformer Corp is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations and support the financial integrity of a rapidly growing, multi-site manufacturing organization. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting activities, ensure compliance with GAAP, and partner closely with finance and operations leadership to drive accuracy, efficiency, and scalability across the business.

This is a high-impact role offering visibility to senior leadership and the opportunity to help build and enhance accounting processes in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities


Accounting Operations & Close

  • Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and close procedures


Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance reports, and supporting schedules
  • Partner with Finance leadership on P&L analysis, cost tracking, and operational reporting
  • Provide insights into cost drivers, margins, and business performance to support decision-making


Team Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals
  • Establish clear performance expectations and drive accountability across the team
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, urgency, collaboration, and continuous improvement


Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Support internal and external audit activities
  • Maintain documentation, reconciliations, and processes to ensure audit readiness


Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, HR, and other business leaders to improve financial workflows
  • Support ERP and system enhancements as needed to scale the accounting function


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
  • 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or developing a team
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment


Preferred Experience

  • Manufacturing or industrial accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Cost accounting or plant accounting exposure
  • Experience supporting multi-site or global operations
  • Experience in a high-growth or evolving organization
