Accounting Manager

An established and rapidly growing Austin-based organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its finance leadership team. This is a highly visible role responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, leading the close process, developing staff, and helping drive process improvements across the accounting function.
The ideal candidate is both technically strong and hands-on, with the ability to lead a team while partnering cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Review account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other key accounting areas
- Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances
- Support internal and external financial reporting requirements
Team Leadership
- Mentor, develop, and support members of the accounting team
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team environment
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development support
- Help establish best practices, improve workflows, and drive operational efficiency
Accounting Operations & Compliance
- Oversee core general ledger accounting functions and ensure strong documentation standards
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
- Support internal and external audit activities
- Assist with implementation of new accounting guidance and compliance initiatives
Systems & Process Improvement
- Partner on ERP system enhancements, upgrades, and process optimization initiatives
- Identify opportunities for automation, scalability, and improved reporting accuracy
- Support continuous improvement efforts across accounting operations
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with departments across the organization to support business initiatives
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Provide accounting guidance and operational support to internal stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and month-end close processes
- Experience with ERP systems such as D365, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
- Advanced Excel skills
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
