Accounting Manager

An established and rapidly growing Austin-based organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its finance leadership team. This is a highly visible role responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, leading the close process, developing staff, and helping drive process improvements across the accounting function.

The ideal candidate is both technically strong and hands-on, with the ability to lead a team while partnering cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Review account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other key accounting areas
  • Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances
  • Support internal and external financial reporting requirements

Team Leadership

  • Mentor, develop, and support members of the accounting team
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented team environment
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development support
  • Help establish best practices, improve workflows, and drive operational efficiency

Accounting Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee core general ledger accounting functions and ensure strong documentation standards
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
  • Support internal and external audit activities
  • Assist with implementation of new accounting guidance and compliance initiatives

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Partner on ERP system enhancements, upgrades, and process optimization initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for automation, scalability, and improved reporting accuracy
  • Support continuous improvement efforts across accounting operations

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with departments across the organization to support business initiatives
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Provide accounting guidance and operational support to internal stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and month-end close processes
  • Experience with ERP systems such as D365, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • CPA or CPA-track preferred
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
