Senior Accountant – High Net Worth Family Office, Reporting to Controller

Overview:
A prominent high-net-worth family office based in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its close-knit, high-performing finance team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic environment that includes complex entities, aviation operations, leasing activity, and multi-entity reporting. The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, enhancing existing processes, and supporting strategic initiatives across the family’s portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger & Month-End Responsibilities
- Prepare and record timely, accurate journal entries across multiple entities.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to ensure financial integrity.
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring proper classification, documentation, and audit readiness.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
Aviation & Leasing Accounting
- Handle specialized accounting for aviation operations, including aircraft-related expenses, cost allocations, utilization tracking, and compliance with aviation-specific reporting requirements.
- Manage accounting for leasing activities, including lease schedules, payment tracking, amortization, and compliance with ASC lease accounting guidelines.
- Coordinate with operations, legal, and external partners to ensure accurate and timely reporting for aviation and leasing entities.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare internal financial statements, management reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with consolidated reporting across multiple entities and investments.
- Support external tax and audit partners by providing well-organized, accurate workpapers and documentation.
Process Improvement & Operations Support
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
- Implement improved workflows, templates, and documentation practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support ad hoc projects, including new system implementations, automation efforts, and reporting enhancements.
- Provide financial insights and support decision-making for family office leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.
- 3–5+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally within a family office, private company, aviation environment, real estate/leasing, or public accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and multi-entity accounting.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High degree of discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
