Account Manager
TechKnowledgey, Inc.
Location: In-Office | Goshen, Indiana (Local Presence Required)
Reports To: Founder & President
Works With: Service Manager, Customer Success, Technical Team, Marketing
About the Role
TechKnowledgey is looking for someone who loves building and deepening long-term business relationships.
The Account Manager is responsible for growing TechKnowledgey by taking exceptional care of our existing clients while selectively bringing on new ones. Most of this role is focused on the health, growth, and retention of our current customer base, ensuring every client feels known, supported, and confident in their partnership with us. The remaining portion of the role is dedicated to thoughtfully expanding our customer base through real, in-person relationship building.
A successful Account Manager will possess a natural ability to listen, understand, and anticipate what clients need, meeting them where they are, and helping them get to where they want to be. A fast sales cycle in our industry is 90 days.
Customer Satisfaction and Retention
The core responsibility of this role. The Account Manager owns the health and growth of TechKnowledgey’s existing client relationships, ensuring every client feels known, supported, and well-served.
• Serve as the primary relationship owner for an assigned portfolio of clients
• Conduct regular check-ins, business reviews, and proactive outreach to ensure client satisfaction
• Identify opportunities to expand services where they genuinely benefit the client
• Advocate for clients internally and ensure their needs are communicated clearly to the service team
• Recognize early signs of dissatisfaction and address them before they become problems
• Track account health and communicate status, risks, and opportunities clearly
• Own all quoting activity across both managed accounts and house accounts retained by the Founder, ensuring proposals are accurate, timely, and consistent with TechKnowledgey’s standards
• Maintain and manage the full opportunity pipeline across all accounts, both managed accounts and house accounts, ensuring visibility into every active opportunity, its status, and next steps
What winning looks like: clients who feel known and well-served, strong retention rates, year-over-year account growth, underperforming accounts trending in the right direction, and reduced reliance on the Founder for day-to-day client relationship management.
New Business Development
The secondary responsibility of this role. The Account Manager dedicates a meaningful portion of their time (+/- 30%) to growing TechKnowledgey’s client base through real, in-person relationship building and thoughtful management of our channel partner program.
• Maintain an active presence in the local business community through in-person meetings, events, and introductions
• Convert emails and messages into real face-to-face conversations
• Serve as a point of contact for inbound leads and referrals
• Qualify and respectfully disqualify opportunities based on our ideal customer profile
• Support the addition of 10-12 net new customers annually at an average of $1,000/MRR, within our target market of privately held businesses with 10-200 employees
• Manage and grow TechKnowledgey’s channel partner referral relationships, supporting partners through the referral process and ensuring a great experience for both the partner and the referred customer
• The President has the right to refuse any customer they don’t see as a fit.
What winning looks like: a modest but steady pipeline of well-qualified opportunities, new MRR added each quarter, and clean thoughtful transitions when new clients hand off to the Service and Customer Success teams.
This role is a natural fit for someone who genuinely enjoys people and earns trust over time, is as comfortable deepening existing relationships as starting new ones, and cares deeply about doing business the right way. If you are organized, follow through consistently, and take ownership of outcomes, you will thrive here. Experience in MSPs or professional services is helpful, but character, judgment, and relationship skills matter most.
Compensation
Base Salary: $60,000
The base salary reflects the core expectations of this role, including relationship management, quoting, pipeline hygiene, and maintaining TechKnowledgey’s high client retention standards. Sustained performance issues in any of these areas are a performance matter, not a compensation adjustment.
New Business Bonus
This bonus rewards net new MRR added each quarter from clients at or above $500/month. For every $1,000 in new MRR closed during a quarter, the Account Manager earns a $1,000 bonus, paid out in equal monthly installments over the following quarter.
For example: if $3,000 in new MRR is added during Q1, the Account Manager receives $1,000/month in April, May, and June. Clients below $500/month MRR do not count toward the bonus calculation.
Here is what a strong but realistic year could look like. You bring on a handful of smaller clients at $500/month, a few mid-sized accounts at $1,000/month, and land two or three larger relationships at $2,000/month. By year end you have added 12 new clients, $16,500 in monthly recurring revenue, and earned $12,500 in bonus on top of your base salary. The more you close, the larger the accounts, the more the bonus grows. There is no cap.
Total Compensation at Target: $70,000-$72,000
Total Compensation if Objectives Are Exceeded: $80,000+
