A&P Mechanic

The A&P Mechanic performs heavy maintenance (C and D checks) and aircraft modifications in a high-volume Heavy Maintenance / MRO environment. This role focuses on complex mechanical and structural tasks on a variety of commercial and large fixed-wing aircraft, including engine and landing gear work, structural repairs, and flight control system maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy maintenance activities such as C and D checks on commercial and large fixed-wing aircraft in a Heavy Maintenance / MRO environment.
• Carry out engine removals and replacements in accordance with approved maintenance procedures and safety standards.
• Remove, repair, and replace landing gear assemblies and associated components.
• Perform structural packing and structural repairs as required during heavy maintenance and modification projects.
• Conduct tire changes, wheel and brake system maintenance, and related inspections.
• Repair and replace flight control surfaces and associated control system components.
• Support aircraft modification projects, including installation, adjustment, and testing of new or upgraded systems and structures.
• Work from technical manuals, maintenance documents, engineering drawings, and work cards to complete assigned tasks accurately.
• Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, and test equipment to perform maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while working in large hangar environments.
• Collaborate with other technicians and departments to ensure aircraft are completed on time and to required standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly care for personal and company tools and equipment.
• Document all work performed in accordance with maintenance and regulatory documentation requirements.

• Active Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
• At least 2 years of A&P experience in an MRO environment performing heavy maintenance and aircraft modifications.
• Hands-on experience performing C and D checks or equivalent heavy maintenance on large fixed-wing aircraft.
• Ability to perform engine removals and replacements, landing gear removals, repairs, and replacements.
• Experience with structural repairs, structural packing, and flight control repairs and replacements.
• Proficiency working on Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft and/or Boeing B737, B757, B767, B777, and B747 aircraft, or similar large commercial platforms.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from aircraft maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with aviation hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
• Capability to work safely and efficiently in a busy heavy maintenance hangar environment.
• Willingness and ability to work any assigned shift, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, and some weekends as required.

• Experience with CRJ and ERJ regional jet aircraft is highly valued.
• Depot Level or Phase Level military maintenance experience on C-17, C-130, KC-135, KC-10, or other large fixed-wing aircraft is considered a strong asset.
• Previous experience working in large MRO or multi-hangar facilities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and airworthiness.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
• Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for mechanical and structural issues.

Work Environment

Work takes place in extremely large MRO and heavy maintenance hangars with multiple bays and multiple aircraft in process. You will operate in a large, multi-hangar environment that supports a diverse mix of Airbus and Boeing aircraft as well as other large fixed-wing platforms. The role requires shift flexibility, with schedules available on 1st shift (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM), 2nd shift (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM), and 3rd shift (10:30 PM – 7:00 AM), and the ability to work some weekends based on operational needs. You must provide your own tools and wear steel-toe shoes as part of the required attire. The environment is hands-on, tool-intensive, and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and teamwork.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Greensboro, NC.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
